Our History

Drain Brothers began in 1971, with brothers Darrell and John Drain building roads and septic beds in Kawartha cottage country. Armed with a single-axle dump truck, a rubber tire loader and a small bulldozer, Drain Brothers quickly became known for their expert service and affordable pricing. With the addition of our first quarry in 1973, we began to expand our offering to include civil construction projects. Our first big assignment: Beavermead Park and Campground.

Since then we’ve been involved in a variety of commercial and civil construction projects throughout the Kawarthas, including the widening of Lansdowne Street, and construction of The Parkway, Hospital Drive, Millennium Park and the Rotary Trails. We’ve also been active in land development projects at Costco, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, the Parkway Centre and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, to name just a few.

While our business has grown to include over 20 quarries, a state-of-the-art asphalt plant and a trap-rock processing plant, we’ve never lost sight of what got us here: Our customers. We’ve spent over 40 years building a reputation for honesty and integrity, one project at a time. We offer our customers one-stop solutions and word-of-mouth referrals have always been at the root of our business.
